Meditation

Meditation is not emptying the mind. It is meeting the self.

If meditation only means ‘feeling less’, it will fail on the days you need it most. The classical aim is to meet the one who is aware.

Meditation as meeting the self beneath the noise

The popular promise of meditation is a blank mind. That promise creates a quiet kind of violence. You sit, thoughts appear, and you conclude you are bad at the very practice meant to include you.

In Yoga Psychology, meditation (dhyāna) is a relationship with awareness. Thoughts can come. Emotions can move. The work is to stop merging with every wave and calling the wave “I”.

The witness is not cold

People hear “observe” and imagine distance, even indifference. The Draṣṭā — the Seer — is not a critic on a balcony. It is the intimacy of staying present without being consumed. Warmth and clarity can sit in the same seat.

You are not the weather. You are the sky that holds it.

A useful session: sit for ten minutes. Label softly — thinking, feeling, planning, remembering — then return to the breath or to the sense of being here. When you stand up, do one ordinary action from that same attention: wash a cup, send a message, walk to the door.

Why this indexes a life, not only a sit

If practice stays on the cushion, the old identifications wait at the door. Meditation becomes real when the same witnessing enters conversation, work, and desire. That is Align: action that expresses inner clarity instead of hunger.
